Last year I wanted to upgrade the landscaping of one of my properties from water guzzling lawn to native landscape. The lawn area in front is rather small, but still needs to be watered to stay green. It was a year of some major expenses for me, so upgrading the landscaping was not first and foremost on my mind.
Due to a substantial increase in water rates, the tenants and I opted not to use the sprinkler system. The lawn got pretty dry and turned brown, dormant but not dead. This past winter brought with it lots of rain and lo and behold, native wildflowers planted themselves on this landscape, almost as if I had hired someone to do it.
Sometimes Mother Nature has a plan that works best for all of us!
